Cozy up to a spicy apple cider to freshen up your hot cocoa! Perfect for a good mystery.
Previously in my life before Boddy Mansion, I spent a lot of time taste-testing chocolate. No difficult task as I'm sure you can imagine, but my taste runs to darker, more bitter chocolate which is not such a popular choice when it comes to drinking chocolate.
But still, one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen is invent new ways to make hot chocolate.
This Halloween recipe combines the flavors of Fall with the comfort of a great cup of cocoa. The ingredients and measurements are simple -- give it a taste and see what you think!
(this recipe is also vegan and gluten free, helpful for party hosts seeking to accommodate various food restrictions among their guests)
HALLOWEEN HOT CIDER COCOA
ingredients for single serving:
1/2 cup spiced apple cider
1/4 cup coconut cream
1/4 cup water
scant teaspoon of sugar
heaping teaspoon of cocoa powder
pinch of salt
optional splash of vanilla
Combine the cider, coconut cream, water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk everything until the mixture begins to steam.
Remove from heat and whisk in the cocoa, salt and vanilla (if using). When all is combined, give it a taste and adjust salt, sugar or cocoa as desired.
Curl up with a good mystery (book, game, or virtual party) and enjoy!
